Hey guys! What’s up?
So, I don’t think you guys guessed this but…. I’m a bit of a poetry geek. Especially when it comes to Robert Frost’s stuff.
Imagine my face when I was looking through the old bookshelf in the playroom and I discovered we had a whole book of Robert Frost’s best poems.
I was ECSTATIC.
So I’ve been looking through this old little book and I discovered an awesome poem I never knew. I might have maybe probably definitely memorized it. So here it is-
Desert Places
Snow falling and night falling fast, oh, fast In a field I looked into going past And the ground almost covered smooth in snow But a few weeds and stubble showing last.
The woods around it have it- it is theirs. All animals are smothered in their lairs. I am too absent spirited to count; The loneliness includes me unawares.
And lonely as it is that loneliness Will be more lonely ere it will be less- A blanker whiteness of benighted snow With no expression, nothing to express.
The cannot scare me with their empty spaces Between stars- on stars where no human race is. I have it in me so much nearer home To scare myself with my own desert places.
-Robert Frost
I know it’s a bit dark, but I like it.
So? Whatcha think? Do you like Robert Frost too? Are you, too, a poetry geek? Let me know in the comments below!
